|go to COUPLINGS page||FOR SMALL SPACES|
A new range of steel bellows couplings requiring less installation space and offering simplified dismantling techniques have been launched in the UK by Motor Technology of Stockport.
Manufactured in Germany by R+W, the new BK3 couplings are uniquely designed with two hexagonal head extraction screws located beneath the coupling's cone bushings. The company claims this new design is an improvement on the use of slotted head extraction screws in holes within the cone bushings, which can be difficult to reach.
The new feature allows access with a standard spanner, rather than a screwdriver or similar tool, which simplifies dismantling procedures and makes the coupling suitable for limited space applications. As a typical example, a 40Nm BK3 coupling with an overall length of 65mm requires an installation space of only 78mm.
According to the manufacturers the BK3 coupling range is backlash free, is capable of operating at speeds of up to 10,000rpm, and is able to accept brief overloads of up to 2.5 times the specified values. The range is available with torque ratings from 15 - 4000Nm and accommodates shaft diameters from 10 - 100mm.
Typical applications include servo drives, NC axes, manipulators and linear units. Further information and detailed technical literature is available on request from Motor Technology.
